2008 House Bill 6497

Prohibit entering AAMVA Driver's License Agreement

Introduced in the House

Sept. 24, 2008

Introduced by Rep. Paul Opsommer (R-93)

To prohibit the state from entering an agreement or compact with other states that contains the provisions of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) "Driver's License Agreement," which would allow Michigan drivers license data to be shared on a routine basis with foreign countries, and essentially place AAMVA in charge of driver's license technology decisions, including technologies such as using radio frequency identification devices (RFIDs) in drivers licenses (see House Bill 5605).
