Establish government mandated minimum wage for youth

To make it unlawful to employ a worker who is less than 18 years old for less than $5.15 an hour, rather than the $7.15 per hour mandated for older workers beginning Jan. 1, 2007. The bill also makes it unlawful to employ a worker who a full time student in certain apprenticeship programs for less than 85 percent of the government mandated minimum wage for older workers. The bill leaves in place a $4.25 "training wage" minimum wage mandate exception for workers less than 20 years old during their first 90 days on the job..
