2005 Senate Bill 205

Require school athletic coach certification

Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 16, 2005

Introduced by Sen. Beverly Hammerstrom (R-17)

To require that school athletic coaches hold a valid certification in sport safety training. School boards would have to require that each new person they employ or assign as an interscholastic athletic coach meet this requirement. Coaches would be exempt if they are licensed physicians, physician’s assistants, nurses, or emergency medical technicians, or if they have a physical limitation that makes it impracticable to complete the course.
