Column Descriptions

Senate Bill 711: SB 711 - Extend Cobo tax exemption
Extend for another two years the 2014 sunset on a law that exempts from sales tax the purchase of tools and equipment by a contractor if these are used to fix or renovate Cobo Hall in Detroit.

Senate Bill 146: SB 146 - Targeted Enterprise Zone Tax Break
Authorizes tax breaks for developers whose projects are in a “neighborhood enterprise zone,” for a particular developer's project, while bypassing some requirements in the original law
   • House Roll Call 25 on February 4, 2014.

House Bill 4487: HB 4487 - Expand DDA Debt and Spending
Empower Downtown Development Authorities to borrow and spend the loan proceeds on “marketing initiatives," "infrastructure improvements" and more that "promote local agriculture products and farmers markets."

Senate Bill 786: SB 786 - Grant aquaculture tax breaks
Exempt aquaculture and hydroponics production facilities from property taxes and instead impose a new “specific” tax equal to 25 percent of the regular property tax.
   • Senate Roll Call 142 on March 26, 2014.

Senate Bill 553: SB 553 - Extend renaissance zone tax breaks again
Allow an eight year extension of the extensive tax breaks granted to residents and businesses in a particular "renaissance zone" located in Saginaw County. This would be in addition to a previous seven-year extension.
