2014 House Bill 5781

Senate Roll Call 764: Passed

To modify the way Michigan's oath of office is administered to state senators and state representatives. Under current law, the oath can be administered by the "chancellor, any justice of the supreme court, the lieutenant governor, the president pro-tempore of the Senate, or the speaker of the House of Representatives." The bill would remove “the chancellor” and add the House Clerk and Senate Secretary.
