Appropriations: Governor’s ”omnibus” education budget

The education portion of the executive budget recommendation proposed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1, 2021. The bill would appropriate $15.853 billion for K-12 public education (of which $1.822 billion is federal money), $464 million for community colleges (all state money) and $1.731 billion for state universities (of which $1.22 billion is federal). Senate Bill 187 contains the Governor’s “omnibus” budget recommendation for the rest of state government.
