2017 Senate Bill 493

Let counties keep abandoned cemetery lot money

Introduced in the Senate

June 28, 2017

Introduced by Sen. Margaret O’Brien (R-20)

To presume that money held by a county for the care and preservation of cemetery lots has been “abandoned” if a county treasurer is unable to identify the location of a cemetery or a cemetery lot for which money was deposited. Also, to end the practice of counties holding money for this purpose, authorize ways counties can transfer this money and duty to another entity, require added disclosure provisions and more.
