2017 House Bill 4946

Prohibit public money to candidate in uncontested gubernatorial primary

Introduced in the House

Sept. 13, 2017

Introduced by Rep. Aaron Miller (R-59)

To prohibit a candidate in a gubernatorial primary election from choosing to accept money from a state campaign fund if he or she has no opponent in the primary. Taking this money requires a candidate to limit contributions from other sources. The money comes from a combination of individual income tax checkoffs and general state tax revenues.
