2022 Senate Bill 1195

Exempt some truck drivers from paying income tax

Introduced in the Senate

Sept. 28, 2022

Introduced by Sen. Roger Victory (R-30)

To exempt from state income tax the wages earned by “commercial motor vehicle” drivers employed by Michigan-based companies. A 100% exemption would apply for three years on the job, and a 50% exemption for the next three years. See also Senate Bill 1194, which proposes subsidies to some of these drivers’ employers.
