2021 Senate Bill 325

Expand sex-based pay discrimination law

Introduced in the Senate

March 25, 2021

Introduced by Sen. Winnie Brinks (D-29)

To other protected classes to revise the state minimum wage law enacted by the legislature in response to a 2018 initiative, by expanding its ban on paying differential wages on the basis of sex to membership in a protected class established by the state’s civil rights law (religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, or marital status). Employers in violation would be subject to the sanctions authorized by that law. This is part of a Democratic employment and compensation regulation package comprised of Senate Bills 322 to 333.
