2021 House Bill 5065

Make Juneteenth an official state holiday

Introduced in the House

June 17, 2021

Introduced by Rep. Tenisha Yancey (D-1)

To repeal a 2005 law that established a "Juneteenth National Freedom Day" in Michigan. House Bill 5064 would make this an official state holiday, which unlike the current designation would probably mean that most government employees get the day off.
