2020 House Bill 6020

Revise school absenteeism reports, standards and more

Introduced in the House

July 23, 2020

Introduced by Rep. Jon Hoadley (D-60)

To revise details of reports schools are required to submit to the state on attendance, expulsions, suspensions, truancy, etc. The bill would also expand the criteria for what is considered an “excused absence;” require accommodations for illiterate or non-English speaking parents required to send a note explaining an absence; redefine “chronically absent,” “disciplinary absence,” and more. This is part of a legislative package that would suspend school accountability measures in the 2020-21 school year.
