2017 House Bill 5103

No fault auto insurance reform package

Introduced in the House

Oct. 12, 2017

Introduced by Rep. Steve Marino (R-24)

To prohibit the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) from being involved in the claims adjustment process for injuries sustained in vehicle crashes. Regular insurers could not reduce or deny an insurance claim based on whether it will be covered by MCCA. The MCCA is a private entity created by the no-fault auto insurance law, and provides reinsurance to auto insurance companies for personal injury claim amounts that exceed above around $550,000. This is part of a package comprised of House Bills 5101 to 5111.
