2013 Senate Bill 232

Revise Wayne County school tax vote restriction

Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 27, 2013

Introduced by Sen. Patrick Colbeck (R-7)

To repeal a provision requiring the Wayne County intermediate school district (called the “Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency”) to hold property tax millage increase elections for school operations spending (“enhancement” millages) on either the August primary or November general election dates. The bill would also allow these tax hike elections to be scheduled on the regular February or May election dates, which generally have much lower turnout.
