2010 Senate Bill 1065

Authorize energy efficient new home construction tax breaks

Introduced in the Senate

Jan. 19, 2010

Introduced by Sen. Roger Kahn (R-32)

To authorize a $2,000 Michigan Business Tax credit for a contractor who builds a new home that is purchased by a buyer as a residence if the structure meets certain energy efficiency standards specified in the bill. The credit would not be “refundable” (that is, a potential cash subsidy), but the amount exceeding a contractor’s tax liability could be “carried forward” and used against future years’ tax liability.
