2007 House Bill 4127

Provide health insurance for term-limited legislators at age 62

Introduced in the House

Jan. 25, 2007

Introduced by Rep. Bruce Caswell (R-58)

To establish less generous graduated health care insurance coverage for legislators who “retire” after the end of 2006, in the amount of 7 percent of the coverage premium for each year that they have been in office, up to a maximum of 97 percent upon 14 years in office (the maximum combined House and Senate term under the term limits imposed by a vote of the people in 1992), with the coverage beginning when the former legislator reaches age 62. Under current law, former legislators who have served six years get full health coverage beginning at age 55.
