2004 House Bill 6062

Exempt active duty military from vehicle registration “late fee”

Introduced in the House

June 30, 2004

Introduced by Rep. Mickey Mortimer (R-65)

To exempt military personnel on active duty outside the state from paying the $10 “late fee” charged when a vehicle registration is renewed after a previous registration has expired. The new registration fee would need to be paid within 30 days of the person’s return, or the fee would be levied. This “late fee” was imposed by Senate Bill 554 in 2003, which increased a number of vehicle registration fees in order to balance the budget without limiting spending.
