Introduced by Rep. MaryAnn Middaugh (R-80)

To revise the conditions that allow a person to be exempted from jury duty, allow just one such exemption for each person, and prohibit employers from counting the days spent on a jury against an employee’s accrued leave or vacation time. The bill would also create a state fund to compensate jurors for lost wages on trials that last more than four days at a rate of up to $100 per day, and up to $300 a day after 10 days, funded by a new $10 fee on lawsuit filings.
