2004 House Bill 5785

Eliminate sunset on certain health care provider fees

Introduced in the House

April 21, 2004

Introduced by Rep. Triette Reeves (D-10)

To eliminate the October 1, 2007 sunset on the “Michigan Medicaid Quality Assurance Assessment” (MMQAA) fees on hospitals, nursing homes, and hospital long-term care units. This is a bed tax or fee on health care providers that is used to generate more federal Medicaid matching funds, resulting in a net gain for some but not all of the providers.
