Environmental laboratory accreditation

Introduced in the House

April 1, 2004

To require the Department of Environmental Quality to establish an environmental laboratory accreditation program, and standards for analytical methods; provide for reciprocity with labs in other states that meet the standards; and authorize fees for accreditation.

Referred to the Committee on Commerce

Reported without amendment

With the recommendation that the substitute (H-2) be adopted and that the bill then pass.

June 16, 2004

Substitute offered

To replace the previous version of the bill with one that is part of a revised package that makes the proposed lab quality accreditation program optional, and that establishes a Laboratory Data Quality Assurance Advisory Council appointed by the governor. See also House Bill 5743 and Senate Bill 1135.

The substitute passed by voice vote

Passed in the House 106 to 0 (details)

To require the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to implement a Laboratory Data Quality Recognition Program to identify commercial laboratories qualified to generate data for submission to the DEQ.
