2002 House Bill 5968

Introduced in the House

April 25, 2002

Introduced by Rep. Doug Hart (R-73)

To require that the MEAP social studies assessment test results be used in qualifying for state merit award scholarships. The social studies test was not included in when the scholarship was created due to the fact that many legislators considered it to be too “politically correct.” See also House Bill 5881, which would replace the social studies assessment test with a civics test, including American and Michigan history and government.
