To revise the eligibility criteria for communities that may establish a “neighborhood enterprise zone,” in such a way as to authorize a total of 88 communities, rather than 30 under current law, to grant tax abatements to certain residential property owners under the Neighborhood Enterprise Zone Act. The bill also eliminates the December 31, 2001 deadline for owners to obtain a new neighborhood enterprise zone certificate.
