2001 House Bill 4089

Introduced in the House

Jan. 31, 2001

Introduced by Rep. Bob Brown (D-16)

To require a majority vote of both houses of the legislature to authorize any pay increases recommended by the State Officer’s Compensation Commission. If either house failed to vote then compensation could not change, instead of the current system where a pay raise goes into effect automatically unless both houses vote to decline it. The bill is tie-barred to House Joint Resolution B, which would authorize a required vote of the people needed to make this change in the Constitution.
