  • Re: 2010 Senate Bill 1340 (Impose rate reduction mandate on insurers )

It is up to the free market to regulate the prices, not the government. The congress has no business regulating the price of a consumer item. These government intrusions have been a large part of the economic problems in this country. Let the free market decide. Government get out of this. It is none...

  • Re: 2010 Senate Bill 1323 (Establish “Michigan Registered Reporter" registration and screening criteria )

This appears to be a totally useless waste of legislators' time! Lets STOP with the constant, continuous regulation/certification of everything! Ths is meant to be exclusionary-that's the only reason for it. I though you people had more to do!

  • Re: 2009 House Bill 5522 (Repeal “prevailing wage” law )

HB 5522 should pass. Any law that encourages taxpayers to pay more for services is flawed. Instead of impoverished construction workers, replace it with: wealthy surgeons. Taxpayers can't award a contract to a surgeon willing to work for $500,000 because the prevailing rate in town is $600,000? How...

  • Save Michigan with changes to taxes

With all the unemployment and jobs and people leaving michigan, wouldn't it be smarter to remove the income tax and start taxing food? People will always buy food, Michigan will have money to keep going. Why don't we do something good for Michigan instead of making more detramental decisions...

  • Re: 2008 House Bill 6606 (Increase certain MEGA tax breaks )

MEGA grants/give-aways shouldn't be increase, they should be eliminated. Contrary to spin advertising and bogus self-promoting, MEDC adds nothing positive to our economic climate. Having been on the inside of a few of these "deals" claims of saving jobs and bringing new jobs to Michigan...

  • Re: 2009 Senate Bill 166 (Ban setting auto insurance rates by location )

Whaaat? You singlehandedly want to increase my AUTO insurance? MI residents cannot afford to pay more for ANYTHING ELSE! I should not have to pay higher rates because someone else lives in a high risk area. I already have to pay that excessive MCCA or whatever that $150 you steal from me on each vehicle...

  • Re: 2009 Senate Bill 153 (Require retail refund policy on receipt )

so, the more you print on the register receipt, the less people will return things? is that what you are trying to say? consumers already know what the return policy is. it costs the stores nothing to return items. if they are defective, a claim is made to the manufacturer, who warranties their product...

  • Re: Mackinac Center's 101 Ideas to Revitalize Michigan

    106. Eliminate all forms of "Income Tax" in Michigan. Implement the FairTax as outlined at www.MIFairTax.org , or www.FairTaxMI.org . The National site is simply www.FairTax.org , for the entire elimination of the IRS and implementing the FairTax through the country on the Federal level. Also...

  • 2009 Index of Economic Freedom

I see that the United States posted at #7, with an 80.7 score. That is disturbingly close to slipping from "Free" to "Mostly Free". I wonder what shape our economy would be in if we tried to post the high score. I'm willing to bet that it would be cooking right along. http://www...
