About time. We are surrounded by great lakes and yet our Detroit Region water bills are some of the most expensive water bills in the country. We keep hearing how, unlike the city of Detroit, the Water Deprtment is professionally & efficiently run. And yet it seems every time there is another Detroit scandal trial, contractor games at the Water

While I realize this $15 vs $25 annual fee issue is not huge, have you ever tried to use the Michigan Licensing department services? While friendly and professional they are living in the dark ages, communicating only via Fax, snail mail, and as a falllback, phone. Their system should have been thrown out 10 years ago and if it had they would operate

*Not* correct! If vouchers for "non-public" students were allowed I might buy your argument. Those students' parents *are* already paying the public school taxes but not getting those services (like bus services, but also much more). Those parents are already paying *twice* for their students' educations.

This is dumb legislation and not representative of either Republican or tea party values. The issue rightly belongs at the local level. Just as it wouldn’t be right coming from the federal level, it isn’t right coming from the State level. We need a part time legislature, not more central control & bureaucracy. Please get government out of our hair

This is a dumb bill and excellent justification for a part time legislature. - Using this logic Michigan should also ban the sale of kitchen knives. Do you know one of the most common causes of emergency room visits on Sunday mornings? Sliced hands due to cutting bagels with kitchen knives. - Really, the proper way to handle this issue is with public

Really? Why wasn’t this requirement included from the start? Isn’t this a basic no-brainer? For ALL State-funded organizations: Any funding-dependent metric supplied to the State MUST require a personal certification that to the best of their knowledge the metric is accurate!

Beautiful! Since the federal govt is so fond of using "interstate commerce" to choke our freedom , we MUST use the very same logic to localize our state's rights. This same logic applies to much (most?) of what the federal govt claims it can do. What happened to our ability to simply read the constitution ? It is a pretty simple document

If I understand this bill correctly, it is surprising to see it coming from a Republican since it is exactly the type of dumbing down/socialist action to be expected from a liberal politician. But seeing the location in the state where it originated, I guess this otherwise Republican Representative feels it is ok to throw out free market principles

I must be missing something - in the same way the Movie industry does not deserve special treatment, why do construction companies deserve special treatment? And BTW, did vacancy rates around the state shrink when nobody was looking? (Why o why would we encourage even more building capacity with our precious $???) If tax breaks are good for one then
