Just because the federal government has gone crazy with entitlements is no reason the State of Michigan should seek to mimic the feds. Sadly, Michigan can't print money, so taxes will have to be collected from some more successful citizens to bestow upon the ones who've not made the good decisions. You get more of what you reward, less of what

If the "bio-based" product in question is "fuel" of any kind, then rip-off !! No bio-based fuel has yet proven to be economically feasible. If it's anything else, then surely the marketplace will support it, without Michigan taxpayers' chipping in.

It seems that most of the recent mass murderers have sought out "gun-free zones" in which to kill their victims. The Aurora, CO, shooter, as I understand it, drove past a theater that allowed its patrons to carry guns and carried out his plot in a "gun-free zone," where I'm sure he felt more certain he would not be stopped by

truckingal, it has been proposed that the gas tax be repealed and replaced by an increase of 2% in the state sales tax. I believe the income referenced in this bill would come from the newly-increased sales tax, so that rural taxpayers would not pay more taxes simply because they must buy more gas (other than the sales tax on the gas, of course). Since

If this IS just another effort to stand in the way of extraction of Michigan's natural resources, then I oppose it. At the least, it will add to the cost of extraction; at the most, the environmental wackos hope to stop the extraction. Does this legislator hint that there is currently NO effort to police drillers?? Or does he merely wish to increase

I love veterans and appreciate their service. If a veteran is "totally disabled," it would seem that exempting him or her from property tax is the least we can do. On the other hand, can a "totally disabled" person, veteran or otherwise, really own and operate a business? This seems like an opportunity for corruption.

Since it seems that virtually all mass shootings occur in "gun free" zones, it would seem prudent to end gun free zones entirely. Why make it easier for a deranged person to choose his/her victims?

Another vague and complicated plan. It would help if the reasoning were given within the legislation, since this makes no sense without it. Do some cronies need some coddling? Do others need some punishment? Those two conditions provide some "reason," yet don't justify passage of this bill. I can't imagine what would.

This does sound like a good way to manipulate and harass businesses and ultimately to inspire their campaign contributions, which might curry a little favor with the deciders of just which industries "especially benefit." Sounds vague, yet complicated. What could go wrong? Good plan, Rebekah.

Presumably if the property's value has fallen, the new lower tax would apply?
