Idiotic restraint of trade. Six year apprenticeship? For interior design? A test developed by existing interior designers? None of these ideas make any sense, unless you are already an interior designer trying to eliminate competition. I don't favor any licensure for any job at all, but at least have a public safety rationale behind it. If you want

I don't think there is a need for a council to create government brain injury. There seems to be plenty of it already. <grin>

This is a horrible idea. Why, if someone is innocent, and only erroneously arrested, should a DNA sample be retained? Sounds like a sneaky way of just collecting DNA samples from everyone. Who's going to pay for storage and retention of the samples? Potential for misuse.

The part you left out is that by paying less for services the state can tax less so that everyone will have more of their own money. Mandating privatization isn't a good idea, as many have mentioned, their school district makes it work fine with employed staff. If employed staff are the cheapest way to go, why should a school board want to pay more

Another bailout to private individuals. What is wrong with you people? Haven't we had enough of this using public money to support a private enterprise? Do you ever learn anything? Not one senator voted against this bill? Not one? Haven't we proved a million times that public money going to private individuals is immoral, ineffective, and distorts

My point in advocating a 403(b) plan over a defined benefit plan is to decrease volatility in reporting. Even if the expected payout is the same, a 403(b) is better financially. A pension requires actuarial assumptions about, life expectancy, continued employment, return on investment, inflation rates, etc. This requires paying an actuary. A state then

Yes on Proposal 5. No on the rest. #1 Reinstate emergency manager law. Don't really care #2 Make public unions unaccountable to legislature. No. #3 Mandate green energy usage, and raise rates. No. This doesn't belong in the Constitution. If you like it, make it a statute. #4 Mandatory home care unions. No. No. Hell no. #5 2/3 majority on tax

FINALLY! A bill I can really sink my teeth into.

The agricultural business is inherently tied to weather. The citizens of Michigan should not be subsidizing the risk of private businesses. If that business is concerned about weather risk, it can buy private insurance against weather-related losses. Pretend it is another business -- a ski resort. If we have unseasonable warm winters with little snow

Why is it necessary to increase the pension percentage payout? I don't want to take away pension benefits to which teachers have already accepted, but I see no reason to increase them. Everyone will benefit by moving from a defined benefit program to a 403(b) style program. The risk and volatility of retirement costs are moved to those who benefit
