My understanding is that when Dave Grossman wrote his famous essay about sheepdogs (http://www.killology.com/sheep_dog.htm) he was not talking about ordinary citizens who were armed, although he is not specific on the subject, but about law enforcement professionals. Perhaps I am mistaken; I hope that I am. Ido, though, still object to law officers

And what is the particular point of such an exemption other that to set law officers up as a special class above us commoners? I favor "constitutional carry" as found in Alaska, Arizona, and Vermont, Wyoming, and parts of Montana. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_Carry.

Does anyone else find this to be too vague? "The new language would prohibit an 'object designed, manufactured, or intended to be used to cause death or injury.'” I can envision someone's being charged for having a evil looking "Rambo-type" knife or "fantasy knife" when the intent was fantasy and not to cause death

"This bill should be banned," ? I assume from the rest of your post that you mean, "the ban should be repealed." One step at a time. Next, handguns.

One step at a time. Might we consider 18 as "the age" for all, not just service members?

The last I heard, Michigan did not have a legal definition of "brandish." Does one "brandish" by merely displaying the weapon, let us say by opening one's jacket? Or does one necessarily draw it and wave it about? Can one one legally and joyfully wave about a new aquisition? What degree of threat, if any, is required? Sen. Jones
-
Might I suggest 1) That an exception be added for in the home and curtilage. 2) That he co-sponser Sen. Rick Jones's SB 780.

There must be a simpler clearer way of saying what is meant. Is there a second birthday in that same year? How about, "The CPL first expires on the holders sixth birthday after its first issueance and then expires on each following fifth birthday." Better yet, lets have "constitutional carry" as do Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming

While I have no objections to retired federal – or state or local – LEOs being allowed to carry wherever and whenever, I have yet to see any valid research that has determined that they as a group are so meritorious and beneficial to society that they deserve to be a privileged class. Eliminate the “gun free zones” from CPL law

What real problem does this solve?
