"So is beautiful day for football a bit of a pyro, or what?"
You should have seen that blaze 10 mins before the photo was shot. We didn't think to photograph until it had died down a bit. The original pile of sticks and logs was eight feet high and five feet wide. It took me and another guy about 45 mins to build it.
The pit itself is about 12 ft diameter and two feet deep.
It's ALWAYS a BDFF. That's a running spartan stadium announcer joke. He gives the weather report, whatever that may be, and ends with "It'ssssss a beauuuutiful daaaaay foooooor Footballllllll!!!!" -- as the crowd chants lustilly along with him.
It's extra fun on days like this. The Florida Atlantic game, with 27 mph winds and 2 inches of rain, was particularly amusing.
