This really, really needs to happen!! The whole 'smart-meter' scheme is highly questionable, smacks of major 'crony corporate capitalism' and does not benefit either the rate payer or the environment! We really still arent talking about some of the serious negative effects of mandating these things: not only are there privacy concerns, there are health effects, higher recorded kwh usage recorded and damage of electrical shorts and fires to older home wiring and appliances. These things increase the utility's profit margins to make up any losses caused by customers' efforts to conserve energy; they do nothing to protect the integrity of the grid itself and may actually threaten wider outages due to the interconnectedness of these new systems. The voters best interests are NOT being served by these smart-meters: this is just one more effort by global interests to control energy usage by the developed world (see smart-meters everywhere the UN's Agenda 21 rears its ugly head)!
