They shouldn't have to say "under God" as that may coflict with their religious beliefs-or lack of them. Maybe they should ber allowed to insert the name of their own "God" if they have one. I beleive the First Amendment backs my statement up.

Another "feel good" bill more opportune to getting votes than to doing anything of substance.

I agree with one of the other comments........ very confusing. I'm interpreting it to mean that you (our state reps) are enforcing that a flag needs to be present and that every child in a public school must recite the Pledge of Allegiance - unless they don't want to. Growing up, the pledge was automatic - we didn't need the government to determine it for us. Those that have chosen to live in America, must have come here for a reason - so as the saying goes, "when in Rome, do as the Roman's do". Same applies to those in America. YOU came to our land - respect it or go home. And while I'm spouting off........... the American Flag has been changed thru the years to reflect the addition of states by the adding of stars & stripes. It's been the symbol that is flown proudly representing all of America. So, why, after 200 + years is it no longer acceptable as is by our current president? Could it be that he is not an American? That would be the only reason I could ever imagine that someone would want to change it. The American Flag is "not broke" - it doesn't need ANYONE to "fix it" or "change it". HANDS OFF!

I'm not sure  Obama banned the flag so to speak, but political correctness has. I went to a High School graduation a few years back and noticed our flag was behind the speakers podium and at the same height as the flags of other nations. Our flag was not displayed at the podium. I mentioned that to the  superintendent of the Berrien Springs schools and was told that was done to not offend the students from other nations. That is what educators think of our flag. Like Obama, they don't want the American flag or America to rise above other nations. The Educators leveled he field. The Berrien Springs school system has a lot of students brought in from other countries by Andrews University ( A religious tax exempt organization) and schooled in taxpayer supported schools. Those from other nations know where we are when they want something, but don't want to recognize this nation and the people that give it to them. End of rant.

What I do feel is that those of different beliefs should not be required or taught to say "under God".  That was added by Eisenhower and was not part of the original pledge and it is not neccesary to add that to affirm allegiance to our country. Freedom of religion is one of our rights under the Constitution and "under God" is no different than if Obama added "under Allah", Under Obama or someone believed in Buddah. That's just my humble opinion.

Politicians are quick to raise the flag and proclaim their dedication to our country near election time, But how many have volunteered to serve in our military. They will be quick to send your kids to their death while the politicians serve themselves. If your kid is killed, tyhey might even send you a flag that has flown over the State or National capitol.
