I THINK THIS IS A GOOD BILL.ESPECIALLY IF THIS APPLIES TO THE MANY SERVICE (GAS) STATIONS HERE IN DETROIT.MOST OF THE TIME IT'S A .10 CENT DIFFERENCE IF ONE USES IT'S CREDIT/DEBIT CARD. EVEN WITH A GIFT CARD.THANK HEAVEN SOMEONE IS TRYING TO PUT A STOP TO THIS PRACTICE.

fairly stoopid approach, unless of course the bill prevents your credit card company from charging the retailer the 3% service charge. It actually costs the retailer every time someone charges the purchase, so its only fair to give a cash discount.

This is about the stupidest thing I can think of. As a business I have to pay a annual and monthly fee to take credit cards, and they when someone uses it I have to pay a percentage of the sale to the credit card provider. and now I have to give them the same discount as cash customers. Have you ever heard the saying cash is king? If this becomes law the only thing that happens is there will be no cash discount. You have your laws, I have mine.

Here's any idea. You could simply choose to not do business with people who charge extra for using credit cards. That way the business will be encouraged to stop the practice as they lose business and we won't have another law restricting how businesses use their private property. Wake up! The government is not the answer to all of your problems.

I think that discounts should be made for cash and for card purchases but the only problem that should be resolved is the fact that there are too many discounts. The government should make a list with the products and objects that are eligible for a discount and only to them should be applied. And of course that there is the vouchers and coupons thing that i don't think that it is such a huge threat, i use coupons from http://www.gopromocodes**.*com/ and nobody looked strange at me when i was shopping.
