Casperson nevers ceases his attempts to gain more freebies for his personal gain and those of his fellow timbermen. He's introduced a bill, SB 248 as I recall, that would give the same freebies to the timber interests. Apparently he feels the bill will die a slow death over in the House so he's going this route.

The man is nothing but a shill for timber interests.

Every time the Republicans get in to power the DNR and the NRC have to put up a fence around the Trust Fund to keep them from using it up to benefit their cronies.

I think it makes sense to allow "development" grants to be used to develope property the state owns.  The original law was never meant to purchase land the public couldn't use, but that is what it has become.  Roads give access to property the public owns.  Also, cleaning up waterways for public use also seems to be a very legitimate use of these funds.  No clear thinking person would say that access to public lands is against the public interest
