    2011 House Bill 4875 (Revise "bioreactor landfill” regulation )

    Introduced in the House on July 27, 2011, to eliminate the requirement that a secondary liner and leachate collection system to monitor the effectiveness of the primary liner must be included in certain “landfill research, development, and demonstration projects,” including "bioreactor landfills," in which certain bulk liquids could be added for the purpose of accelerating or enhancing biostabilization of the solid waste

    The vote was 63 in favor, 45 opposed and 2 not voting

     If you thought landfills could stink before, just wait until they start actually adding liquids!  I suppose you should also plan on funding municipal water supplies to anyone living around them too.. the potential for contamination is now super huge. the systems currentlyin place have failed at several landfills about the state, was that mentioned in any of your meetings?  This bill would effectively eliminate the safety net now required.  I recommend that the Senate vote this bill down on the pricipal of safe garding our precious groundwater.
