It's bad enough that I have to stand in line forever to get my allergy medicine and am limited on the quantity that I may purchase - the stores don't understand the original mgs. so I can only  get a package of 24 per month - do the math that isn't enough during the high tide allergy season. NOW, I'm going to have to wait for some store clerk (who probably has a sketchy background themselves) to perform a background check on me - ridiculous! Can't you see that this expensive, uneffective, useless war on drugs is not working - how about trying something new, legalize the drugs and put the government in charge and tax the living daylights out of them so that I can get my allergy meds. I bet I'd have an easier time gaining access in the places that you're trying to keep them out of than at Wallmart. You cannot legislate every bad behavior out of society, you cannot protect every idiot from themselves and you shouldn't be trying that is not the role of the government and I'm dissappointed to see that you call yourself a republican.

I'm all for seeing reduced drug use in our state.

    However...

Is this Bill consistent with a conservative interpretation of our Constitution?

Is it consistent with less, and less intrusive, government?

Will expanding the power and role of the NADDI (never heard of them before!) through the use of the NPLEX (never heard of that either!) really achieve the goals of this Bill?   Are we in effect just nurturing the seedling of a yet another bureaucracy here?

If this stuff can be used for such evil purposes, maybe we shouldn't be selling it period.

Either that or quit kidding ourselves that we can (or should even try to) protect people from their own choices.

Although it has the appearance of being "tough on drugs and crime", this Bill doesn't sound effective to me.

This stuff is the only thing that is effective on my sinus headaches and it's already a pain to buy it.  The Democrats want to take away all of economic freedom and the Republicans want to take away all of our personal freedom...unfortunately they usually compromise and take away all of our freedom.

How is this less government and more JOBS?

To answer the question how  is this less government and more jobs...it isn't.  This system has been proven to increase the cost of dealing with meth and all of the aspects associated with it.  It increases law enforcement cost, clean up cost, an expense that falls on the local police forces due to federal funding for clean up have dried up.

The system is completely reactionary and has proven not to reduce meth labs.  The best answer is to require the same products that are currently behind the counter that contain pseudoephedrine to be prescription only.  This not only has proven to drastically reduce the number of labs but the cost associated with meth as well.  Those who still feel they need pseudoephedrine colds and hay fever can get the drug usually with less hassle and cheaper.  Check out Michigan Meth Lab Elimination on facebook for more details.
