2011 House Bill 4217 (Increase power of school and local emergency financial managers )

Introduced in the House on February 9, 2011, to revise references in the state elections law to conform to the enhanced emergency financial manager powers proposed by House Bill 4214. Among other things, that bill would give the EFM the power to cancel existing government or teacher union contracts

The vote was 62 in favor, 47 opposed and 1 not voting

(House Roll Call 19 at House Journal 0)

Well, it looks like the Republicans in both chambers are incapable of thinking for themselves. Gov. Snydley says jump, and they jump in unison. Will have to look up this Zorn dude (the only Republican to vote NO) to get some insight into his problem (thinking for himself). Some of those Republicans should know better, in particular those that have witnessed the deterioration of Detroit Public Schools, and know that the current situation at DPS is a direct result of State interference with Education in Detroit over the past 8 years. The State of Michigan Government made things exponentially worse, first bringing in Ken (The Main Man) Burnley to rape and pillage for 5 years, then letting Bobb Bobbb pick the carcass.  Republicans think they know the answer: nullify contracts, kick out the unions, "privatize" services, fire teachers and administrators. Then, Johnny will be able to read.

My Guess is that NONE of the Republican rank and file read and study the full breadth of Mackinaw Center reports, rather let "Leadership" pick and choose which policies to follow. If they did, one of the first things they would do would be to get rid of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and not just in name, but all of the functions. Gov. Snydley has been a MEDC insider, is consolidating Power in the MEDC and is getting set to have tax money flow through the Aerotropolis (Includes the Bridge) and the Research Corridor.

Emergency Financial Managers = Dictators. How is this remotely representative of the people?

Shame on each and every one of you who voted for this bill.  We will work as hard as possible to make sure you do not return.

Fortunately the majority of taxpayers are fed up with paying for unreasonable union benefits while everyone else take cuts.  I don't think the legislators have anything to worry about.  Shame on unions for using intimidation and coercion to line their greedy pockets.
