As much as I would like to "streamline" the system, I think this is a bad idea.  The preliminary exam is part of the checks and balances that protect us from a prosecutor with an agenda.

I thought an american citizen who is indicted, is innocent until proven-thru due process- guilty??

Hey changeagent, don't forget that americans indicted have to be protected from their own ignorance of court procedure, bias court appointed attorney's, not just prosecutors.

How can you eliminate a persons rights so the prosecutor doesn't have to prove that a crime even was committed? That sounds like communism.

Did you know that a judge is only limited to what the prosecutor brings forth to his/her bench?

Only you and I would be left. Well, maybe I would actually be alone since I'm not too sure about you.
