Carbon dioxide sequestration is a stupid idea.  We the citizens and tax payers need the state of Michigan to stay out of it.  Do not provide immunity from civil or criminal prosecution to owners and operators of underground reservoir facilities.   Do not allow ownership transfer of underground reservoir facilities to the state.  Do not transfer the liability for maintaining the integrity of underground pressurized carbon dioxide gas reservoir systems to the citizens and tax payers of this state forever.  Instead we need the state to treat facilities of underground pressurized carbon dioxide gas reservoir facilities with more caution and scrutiny than it does for nuclear power plants.  After all, we can decommission a nuclear power plant after its useful life is ended.  What can be done with an underground reservoir of pressurized toxic carbon dioxide gas when we are tired of operating and maintaining it in 50, 100, or 1000 years?  It is immoral to impose any such state commitment onto future generations.

Carbon sequestration is the "chicken little" scheme to regulate the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.  The only ones who profit from such schemes are people like Al Gore and an army of lawyers hell bent on destroying our economy to enrich themselves.  These jerks must be stopped.  Cap and Trade is a tax scheme to burden the US economy into bankruptsy and legislators should be able to see clear through it.  Unfortunmately, they are blinded by the dollars signs they see in implementing the scheme.  We need to get back to the concept of the loyal opposition and kick these lifer senators and legislators out of opffice.

Shearwater, I appreciate your enthusiastic opinion, but for my enlightment, and maybe others, a little information as to what you base your opinions on would help to further the discussion.

Electing Sen. Kuipers to replace Hoekstra in Congress is very dangerous.  This is the type of bought and paid for politician, is the kind that the new world government will be looking for.  He evidently doesn't realize that climate change is due to solar activity, not carbon dioxide, as the pop pseudo-scientists would have it.  Kuipers will not have my support.

Carbon dioxide aside...The term "Eminent Domain" scares the hell out of me. I am not interested in my "local government" deciding that they "need" my property. This bill would open a floodgate for abuse. Do you really trust all of our elected officials to act in "our" best interest? I certainly don't.

Do we really want to give even more power to an already too powerful, and in many instances, corrupt government? Not me.
