What is this thing you people have with the obsession with other peoples sex life? With all the problems we have in this state that you ARE supposed to be dealing with, you're worrying over our kids sex life? Why dont you concentrate on the mess you've created in this state and forget this obviously personal project you're trying to push down our throat!

This belongs in a home, not the school. You people disgust me. Quit jamming this junk down our throats. Fix the state and leave it alone.

I just saw my electric rate increase a month or so ago...now my Consumers bill reflects a surcharge and a note about Consumers looking at a rate increase...but somehow in the longrun it's going to "SAVE" me money. You folks can't do basic math and figure out how to revive an economy (lower taxes, get out of the way of business, etc) so I'm sure you can't teach sex in the school and you're the last group of people I'd want my daughter learning from. Sex ed belongs in the home and should be based on a particular family's values, not some standard you idiots decide on. There better be an "opt out" option for parents if it passes.

     Dear Ms Clark,

From all I read and understand the state does not have the money to support out schools.  If this is true, wouldn't it be more prudent to cut state mandated requirements for our public schools and save money?   Did you have sex education taught to you in school?  If not how have you been able to obtain the status you currently enjoy?  Please rethink and withdraw your bill from consideration.

    Thank you,

    Dave in Lapeer

Umm, they already due teach sex education in school, it isnt a full course in it.They take a little time in class out to talk about it. However, even in highschool parents sometimes parents refuse to have there kids to be taught it. What the bill is doing what cost anymore money, because they already do it. There just say parents cant make there kids opt. out of it. Which makes sense if the kids are in highschool, but not soo much for middle school. It would be going way to far for middle school.

However this part of the bill probably wont cost anymore money. Also public schools dont have enough money, because the government spends to much on war, we could get everyone through college if we paid on 10% or even less of what we spend on wars alone. It is not soo much we can afford schools, we just cant afford to be stupid. Cut back were you need to cut back.

Of course, i might have interpreted it wrong is it a full class or the same as what they normally do but required?

The thrust (if I may use that word) of this legislation is admirable:  Sex education in our public schools should be objective and factual and age appropriate.  On that score, there is no reason this legislation, to amend and clarify existing law should not pass and itself become law.

My primary objection to bills of this ilk is the micromanagement of school curricula content by the legislature.  Curricula are best designed by education professionals.

A very important and needed piece of legislation. Knowledge is power, and we need to give our children the power to make informed choices in regards to their health and futures. I support this bill, and am encouraged to see it's acceptance in the Senate.
