Alright, I have a few issues with this.
One, how is this any different than SB506 introduced in 2007 also by Michelle McManus? Why should any of us care about another Bill that's just going to be "sent to committee" to be lost and forgotten?
Two, the actions wherein a putative father can sue for paternity are still strictly limited. In all cases, the mother would have to be assisting the putative father's suit, or at least not fighting it. That being the case, it's pointless to give the man any rights at all. Why not simply let the woman do it, as she already has the rights to do so? This is a publicity stunt, meant to prove that certain senators actually care about a father's rights, when in fact they refuse to do anything to help us.
Look, I'm not asking anyone to believe as I believe. Just read the document before you form an opinion. Look at it yourselves and see where it states that a putative father may sue for paternity. If you can find one spot on there that doesn't require the mother's consent, you let me know. Until then, I'm tired of this tripe. How dare these people fill us with hope for nothing?!
