    Smart way to increase tax revenues for the state, and discourage carbon based energy sources.

     taxing gasoline two dollars plus a gallon hasn't decreased demand, why should this?

    Michigan tax on gasoline is 19 cpg plus 6% sales tax and 0.875 cpg for environmental regulation fee for refined petroleum fund and 18.4 cpg federal excise tax. Gasoline demand has reason recently, after steep declines.

     aren't you forgetting the state and federal road use taxes? they are above twenty five cents a gallon each, then there are other taxes thrown in at the refinery we don't see in the tax breakdown at the local level.

     Huh? WHY in the hell would you want the state of Michigan crooks to get MORE money? Man made global warning is the biggest FARCE ever levied upon mankind. Here's a suggestion. If you believe this crap, sow what you seed and just give ALL your wealth to the state and go live in a cave.

     Truly, you are part of the problem, NOT part of the solution!
