The Gov./schools will find a way, ANY way to use taxpayers $$ to pay for what they want .. when they want it. The schools have all these teachers - get creative - use the funds you have to teach... I know a homeschooler or 2 that could show you the ropes.

This is no doubt the MEA slipping in the door.

They are good at that, not to mention taking more hard earned money from taxpayers anyway they can.

Rather than expand legal uses of sinking fund money I would far prefer to see the legislature adequately fund schools so their operating expenses are covered.

the average spending per student in michigan is $8561.00. don't you think that's ENOUGH?

i can get you a very nice PRIVATE education for less than that.

This House Bill really smells!!  The following is info I garnered from others that are highly concerned about how this bill could balloon our property taxes.

HB 4313 would vastly increase how sinking fund dollars can be spent - giving bureaucrats and union bosses more money to spend on many new items thus breaking Proposal A's promise to property taxpayers.

A recent study says this bill (which has been tried before) will be a $3.6 to $7.2 billion "sneak attack on taxpayers." The Mackinaw Center's analysis shows how this tax "tweak" will take us back to the days when districts held millage elections as many times as necessary to exhaust voters and hike their taxes.

Rep. Agema, having reserved the right to explain his protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement:

“Mr. Speaker and members of the House:

While I supported this last year, this year no amendments were allowed to limit it’s use. My school districts were wise in their use; however, others were not. Schools should not be bonding for long term issues. We must not raise taxes in this economic environment. Also, it requires a 3/4 vote to pass this according to article 9, sec 3 and MCL380.1211.

Wrong, this does not change if we can hold an election, it only changes how its spent...buses , computers, etc...

we need to keep track of these politicians who think that we have short memories. I live in monroe county

and I will do everything that I can do to see that representative angerer gets dumped during her next election.
