This is much needed legislation.  You too often see the utility companies offering contracts with consumers that compete with and undermine private enterprise/businesses to warrant your furnace, hot water heaters, appliances etc.,

This bill would ultimately hurt the consumer/citizen. If the government can do it better and cheaper, why not?

My goodness, can you possible name ten things the government can do better and cheaper?  Things that don't count; any good or service that has not been tested in the private sector.

And, most certainly, including the use of the word 'better', a very ill-defined goal, will lead to judgements of quality - how 'bout we just stick to cheaper...

    I'm just sayin'

This is what capitalism is all about. Capitalism means Freedom. The freedom to go into business and produce a product/service and sell it to consumers. Under capitalism, your neighbor is also free to produce that same product/service and compete with you. As a consumer, I am free to buy from you or from your neighbor. You must compete with your neighbor to get my business. If your product/service is the highest quality and lowest price, you'll get my business. If your product/service is not as good as those made by your competitor, or cost more, you won't get my business. Under socialism, consumers have to buy everything from the government.
