    2009 Index of Economic Freedom

I see that the United States posted at #7, with an 80.7 score. That is disturbingly close to slipping from "Free" to "Mostly Free". I wonder what shape our economy would be in if we tried to post the high score. I'm willing to bet that it would be cooking right along.

    What is economic freedom?

The highest form of economic freedom provides an absolute right of property ownership, fully realized freedoms of movement for labor, capital, and goods, and an absolute absence of coercion or constraint of economic liberty beyond the extent necessary for citizens to protect and maintain liberty itself. In other words, individuals are free to work, produce, consume, and invest in any way they please, and that freedom is both protected by the state and unconstrained by the state.

just a snippet taken from the same site mentioned above... thought it worth passing on.

michigan constitution,  article 1. Sec. 6.

Every person has a right to keep and bear arms for the defense of himself and the state.

Kind of interesting that Cuba is #177 and Venezula is #174

Aren't these two of the ones that all the good lefties like? Maybe jiminy carter could take them all and move, then the adults can take back this country and move it back up the list a little......

In the words of Kristoferson, "freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose."

I've heard Cuba is a bad place, but I'm not allowed to go there.

     sure, you can go there...

you just have to give up your citizenship to do it.

i'm not sure why you would want to go, except for the EXCEPTIONAL MEDICAL CARE that all of castro's communists recieve. all you have to do to take advantage of that wonderful healthcare is BECOME ONE OF CASTRO'S COMMUNISTS.

    it's just that simple.
