    No Taxation without Representation!

Wait a minute. This would enable tax changes without voter approval? I thought this was America.

    NO Way BABY

You got enough and I aint giving you any more! The legislature is nothing but stupid idiot lawyers, incapable of pushing anything -- but paper! No TAXES NO TAXES. Go to the bureau of labor and statistics. We are already in the top 10 as a state relative to TOTAL taxes collected--sales, income, gas, etc. Is it any wonder NOBODY wants to do business here or live here anymore. VOTE NO VOTE NO VOTE NO!!!!

Have You Idiots Lost Your Minds?

We need for you mental midgets to steal LESS OF OUR MONEY, not more. Keep punishing those "evil rich" guys and you'll run the few jobs that are left out of town.

    Please Be Serious

Are you jokers out of your minds?!? Sure, let's make it so you can tax me EVEN MORE! Between income taxes, gas taxes, sales taxes and property taxes, over 50% of my income goes back to the government! Now you want carte blanche to raise my income tax? Please do us all a favor and RESIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't this why we revolted against Britain in the first place? Taxation without representation!

    A State Govt Gone Crazy

    Out of Touch!!!

These "people" are so out-of-touch with the votors, it's like they're a different species! This is a rampant run toward top-down socialistically-modeled dictatorship. We "think" we vote on things, then the "real rulers" in Lansing make decisions without us! What do you expect in a state that: A.) decided to replace manufacturing with tourism, then tries to remove even more land from private hands, and takes the highway money for God knows what so actual tourists have no way to get here-and taxes gas highly to guarantee they wont come. B.) Pretends the two or three generations of existing citizens are unimportant and have no need of jobs as they plan a future of "highly-educated think-tanks" consisting of the elites' chosen children that produce nothing but are supposedly supporting society on their big earnings as we off-shore everything C.)Solves our in-state energy crisis by mandating higher electricity costs and rides their bike to work D.) insists we are going to become the movie capitol of the world with huge tax breaks because Jenny "likes going to the movies with her kids"! Take a look at California's economy right now-sure isnt helping them much! And the similarities dont end there-both sets of legislators get waaay too much money for what they do-in some sort of inverse accounting for the damage they do. E.) Does absolutely NOTHING to encourage small existing business or attract new business as "manufacturing is dirty -and not cool-and might endanger the environment" What a case of NIMBY!! This is the most egregeous, most outstanding example of the elitist "let them eat cake" attitude I've ever seen on the part of any government! For once, the rest of the state has to band together and out-vote Lansing, Kazoo, Grand Rapids Ann Arbor and Detroit. We need to stop funding these self-serving cretins!

    Smart Idea

It is time Michigan brought itself up to date and implemented a graduated income tax system.
  • 07-26-2008 5:08 PM In reply to

Florida has the best income tax system in the country........ NONE! Lets see if these pea brains ever propose that idea. Fat chance.

    Spoken Like A True

Socialist. You need to get over this wealth envy thing you have going on. It's not good for you and only clouds your judgment. You are where you are because of decisions that you made. Sitting on the porch and blaming the "evil rich" isn't going to make your life any better. Only you can do that, regardless of what the dems/socialists tell you.
  • 07-28-2008 11:18 AM In reply to

    Socialists

Rep. Miller is a socialist bastard and gets no respect because he earns no respect. Generating revenue for the state by taking advantage of envy is evil. Whether you believe or not, the 10 Commandments are pretty good rules for human behavior and the 10th one covers this pretty well.
  • 08-04-2008 12:52 PM In reply to

    Never going to happen

The people will never give the legislature the right to arbitrarily raise our taxes. Mr. Miller, what are you thinking putting a proposal in that has zero chance of getting past the voters? Are you running completely unopposed?
  • 08-04-2008 3:07 PM In reply to

    You Know,

The voters may be far more savvy about wise public policy than we might expect. Michigan's non-graduated income tax is a badly out-of-date idea. This proposal makes good public policy sense and may be just the thing to rejuvenate Michigan, if it is given an opportunity to be the subject of honest public debate.

    Modern Tax

Yes, I would like to see a new "modern" state income tax like the state I live in now. (I was "Blown Away", job, house, everthing) Florida. NONE! Oh, how the libs HATE that idea. Acually letting the people keep the money they earn, its Soooooooo outdated! Fools.

    Senior

Hey Moron What do you think we senior are made of get a job and you will see what everybody has to do to live.WE do not need a gradurated tax.
  • 08-20-2008 10:37 AM In reply to

    We Probably Don't Need

a gradurated income tax, whatever that is. But the time has come for Michigan to get progressive and adopt a graduated income tax.
