    2008 Senate Bill 1193 (Make stealing catalytic converters a five-year felony )

Introduced in the Senate on March 6, 2008, to include stealing catalytic converters in the law that authorizes penalties of up to five years in prison for stealing any wheel, tire, air bag, radio, stereo, clock, telephone, computer, or other electronic device from a vehicle. There has been a rash of catalytic converter thefts in the past year due to the high prices attained by the commodities they are made from

    Oops!, Folks

The Mackinac Center's brief description of this bill does not match the legislature's description of it in any particular. ( Just so you know -- there is a difference between movie rentals and royalties as business deductions and the theft of catalytic converters from motor vehicles, I think.)

    Maybe We Need Special

laws for everything. Steal a bar-b-que....2 years Steal a garden hose...2 months Steal a shoe....2 months I really think that you guys need to try to steal a brain. You either have lost yours or you never had one. I think you'll like it when you get one, it allows you to see how stupid most of your silly laws are.
