    2008 House Bill 5807 (Appropriations: 2008-2009 Agriculture budget )

Introduced in the House on February 26, 2008, the House-passed version of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2008-2009 Department of Agriculture budget. This would appropriate $104.9 million in gross spending, compared to $109.4 million, which was the FY 2007-2008 amount enrolled in 2007, and $102.9 million proposed by Gov. Granholm. Of this, $34.4 million will come from the general fund (funded by actual state tax revenues), compared to the FY 2007-2008 amount of $31.2 million. The extra money proposed by the House is for county fair horse race tracks, and for subsidized woodland management services for landowners

The vote was 82 in favor, 26 opposed and 2 not voting

Eliminate this budget item and all associated departments

There is no need for a state agriculture budget. We already have a federal agricultural cabinet position.
