    More of the same

Some wise man once said, "If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got." It is clear that democrats love to spend the money of others for their pet projects.Tax and spend.Tax and spend. Tax and spend etc.

    HB5613

I disagree; instead,we should eleminate all taxes of every kind and replace them with a sales tax tied to an index which would change with the economy, up or down. We should also eleminate the multiple layers of government by going to a strickly regional concept. think of the tons of money that would be saved while increasing the level of service too the citizens.

    House Bill 5613-Are you kidding?

Laying more taxes on our devalued property to fund transportation? What is wrong with this picture? Does Rep. Michael Sak have an iota of an idea of how many are moving out of Michigan due to the tax structure and this States economic slide? Does Rep. Sak's absorbed the knowledge that we are the largest home foreclosure state? On top of that he wants to levy an additional ticket tax on recreational activities in the region to pay for mass transit, local road construction and other projects that benefit the “commerce centers,” Well, let's all stay home, watch t.v. and save what money we can to pay for our increased utilities. Oh, and by the way -- what happened to the meaning of equal burden? Why does this representative think that mass transit should be laid at the feet of home owners? NO MORE TAXES!

    Mass Transit

is a mass boondoggle. in Portland they figured it out that they would have saved money if they just bought all their mass transit users a new Cadillac. I would however pay a one time surcharge to buy a few busses and send all of our esteemed ignorant representatives in lansingistan the heck out of here. We would be better off if they called in sick every day of the year.

    Mass Transit Study

I believe the representative means mass transit study. That seems to be what we do. We spend millions on studies for mass transit, let the data sit long enough to be irrelevant, the we start all over. Come on we have made many people wealthy with these studies and it is time to give it a rest. We will have mass transit when all other options are exhausted. Our nanny government is moving slowly in that direction. Elect more democrats so we can broaden our socialist agenda and of course do more studies!

    Taxing the Big House

HB 5613 would allow local governments to combine to ask local voters to slap taxes of 4 to 6 per cent on sports and entertainment tickets. This scheme is obviously of value only in a few places: where there is a high-volume sports stadium or concert hall. The big stadiums are the cash cows here. If Ann Arbor joins with Washtenaw County or another city to create one of these taxing authorities, it could take well over a million dollars a year out of U of M Stadium from football fans alone. Then there's basketball, hockey, baseball, concerts, and everything else. The same is true of East Lansing and Spartan Stadium. Local voters are likely to view these taxes as free money from out-of-town victims, and will likely approve these taxes. Similar schemes could also tax attendees at the Van Andel Arena, the Palace of Auburn Hills, Michigan International Speedway, Ford Field, Tiger Stadium, the Belle Isle auto race and hydroplane race, and the Henry Ford, and concert and orchestra halls around the state. Beneficiaries would be local road commissions, city governments, and the bus drivers' unions. We should not allow provincial interests in college towns and big cities to take money out of the tourism, sports, entertainment and cultural sectors of the whole state economy.
