    2007 Senate Bill 747 (Revise school excused absence policy for children of military )

    Introduced in the Senate on September 6, 2007, to require public schools to consider it an excused absence if a pupil is absent from school for up to one full school day because his or her parent or legal guardian is a service member being deployed on or returning from active duty. Excusing additional absences would be up to each school

    The vote was 37 in favor, 0 opposed and 1 not voting

    WHY?

    Why isn't it an excused absence if I call in and say "my child is not coming in today". I shouldn't have to have permission from ANYONE to excuse MY OWN CHILD from school.
