    Why not?

    Why not? No logical reason.

    Pop?

Does pop pay the 6%? What is the logical reason for this exemption. It makes more sense to put a deposit on the bottles. I'm sick of seeing water bottle litter.

    why do we NEED

a tax on bottled water? surely you can't expect the increase in revenue to save the state, can you? let's try LESS SPENDING and LESS TAXING.

    It happened again

I hate the song The Tax Man. Every time a idiotic bill pops up like this one, the darn song gets stuck in my head for the whole day. Thanks.

    The Deficit Is

about 2% of the budget this year.. Here's an idea...CUT THE BUDGET 2% ACROSS THE BOARD. FORGET ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL INTERESTS THAT PAY YOU GUYS OFF.

    Deposits on all bottles/cans

I'm also in favor of the deposit law being expanded to cover as many products that are recyclable as possible. As far as a 'sales tax' on water you can kiss my hose. I already was just forced to take city water and am being robbed THERE. I use 4 dollars in water a month and my bill is always 20 dollars. The state already HAS my water tax money. Try taxing the wealthy and let us poor folks have our H20. Karla Lindquist

    Right On, Karla L!

I agree that the bottle deposit law should be expanded. I also agree tat we should not have a sales tax on bottled water, which is a necessity, albeit one that has been "conveniently packaged" for us by commercial interests.

    tax equally

Let's not pick on people with money. If I had money, I'd do everything I could to keep it. Just b/c someone has either worked hard to earn their money or lucked into it, doesn't mean they should have to underwrite the gov. or the welfare system. Charge a standard percent for EVERYONE and close the loopholes.

    NO NEW TAXES

Governmental spending is run amok and they want to add more taxes to cover the cost. The governor uses scare tactics - talking about cuts in Medicaid and Medicare and then expects people to say, "Sure, tax my drinking water instead of cutting my insurance... Tax anything you like". It's SHAMEFUL!!!!!!

    NEXT A RAIN TAX!

I totally agree with Joe DeSchryver's comments. What are these tax and spenders going to dream up next -- a tax on rain water, and H2O? They'll tax us to the point that we cannot even afford to move out of state! Are these tax and spend representatives being paid so much that they can afford all the new taxes they dream up? Time for a part-time, benefits eliminated legislature.

    Bottled water

Something that has been forgotten in this idiotic effort to tax bottled water -- is that many people HAVE TO BUY BOTTLED WATER, because their tap water isn't safe to drink. Ask some of those who are dealing with this issue in Oxford, MI. Duh!!!!
